Where is Russell Cooperative Preschool?

Russell is located at 35 Church Street, Watertown, MA 02472.  The school rents space in the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Watertown, just off Mt. Auburn Street (Rte. 16) and Main Street in Watertown, near Watertown Square.

What is the age-range of children accepted to Russell?

Children should be three by September 1 of the year they begin at Russell.  Limited enrollment is available for children who are 2 years, 9 months as of September 1 and exhibit preschool readiness.  At age 5, children are in their last year at Russell and typically move on to kindergarten in the next academic year.


How many weekdays do children attend?

Children must attend a minimum of three days per week. Children younger than three and a half on September 1st must enroll for three days only. Second year children may opt for three, four, or five days per week, with a choice of days depending on space available.


How long is the school day?

A full school day runs from 8:45 - 1:45. Alternative pick-up is at 12:30.


How long is the school year?

The school year runs from early September through mid-June.


What is the ratio of adults to children?

The adult/child ratio is on average 1:5. A maximum of 20 children attend on any given day, with an average of 18 per day. Four adults, including three lead teachers and one parent helper, are always present.
